Vanta pricing is quote-only on vanta.com, but its AWS Marketplace listing publishes starting prices for companies with 1 to 20 employees: $14,000 a year for Essentials, $21,500 for Plus and $23,000 for Professional. Vendr's purchase data puts the median Vanta buyer at $20,000 a year, across 373 contracts from $7,500 to $57,221.

Those numbers are more useful together than apart. The AWS figures are the list price for the smallest companies, and the Vendr range shows where real contracts land once headcount, add-on modules and negotiation are counted. Below is what each plan includes, what the add-ons cost, which plan is the cheaper buy for a common scenario, and what to ask before you sign.

How much does Vanta cost?

Vanta costs about $20,000 a year for the median buyer, according to Vendr, which tracks 373 Vanta purchases with an average negotiated saving of about 30 percent. Published list prices start at $14,000 a year for the Essentials plan at 1 to 20 employees and rise to $23,000 for Professional. Vanta's own pricing page shows no figures and routes every plan to a personalized quote.

The AWS prices are labeled "starting cost for 1-20 employees". The listing publishes no larger employee bands, so a company of 60 or 300 people is quoted directly, and that quote is where most of the variation in the Vendr range comes from.

Vanta pricing plans compared

Vanta lists four plans on its pricing page: Essentials, Plus, Professional and Enterprise. The first three carry AWS list prices; Enterprise is described as a fully customizable package for advanced GRC needs and is quoted only.

PlanAWS list, 1 to 20 employeesWhat vanta.com says it adds
Essentials$14,000One compliance framework, automated evidence collection, basic reporting, a Trust Center, access to Vanta's auditor network or your own auditor
Plus$21,500Everything in Essentials, plus automated policy onboarding, access management and AI questionnaire automation capped at 25 questionnaires a year
Professional$23,000Questionnaire automation at 144 a year, customizable risk management, an advanced Trust Center, custom monitoring tests and six customizable reports
EnterpriseQuotedA custom package for larger GRC programs

Several features on the comparison grid, including parts of security review and third-party risk, are marked as add-ons rather than included in any plan. That is the next table.

What Vanta's add-on modules cost

The same AWS listing prices the modules separately, again as 12-month contracts:

ModuleAWS list per yearWhat it covers
Trust Center$6,000Public security page, 1 to 20 employees
Trust Center Advanced$10,000Advanced version, 1 to 20 employees
Questionnaire Automation$10,000144 questionnaires a year
Questionnaire Automation Advanced$16,000288 questionnaires a year
Customer Trust Management$22,250Trust Center Advanced plus Questionnaire Automation Advanced
Third Party Risk Management$13,600Up to 50 vendors managed per year
AWS FTR module$7,500Support for the AWS Foundational Technical Review

Two things stand out. Vendor risk is priced by the number of vendors you manage, so the TPRM line grows with your vendor list rather than your headcount. And questionnaire automation is metered by volume, which matters for any company whose sales team answers security reviews every week.

Is Vanta Plus or Professional the cheaper buy?

For a company of 1 to 20 employees that answers more than 25 security questionnaires a year, Professional is cheaper than Plus at list. Professional is $23,000 and includes 144 questionnaires. Plus is $21,500 but stops at 25, and adding the 144-questionnaire module to it costs another $10,000, for $31,500 in total.

That makes the $1,500 gap between the two plans the cheapest questionnaire capacity Vanta sells. Count the questionnaires your team answered in the last twelve months before you accept a Plus quote. If the number is anywhere near 25, start the conversation at Professional, and use the module price as your evidence for why a Plus-plus-add-on bundle should not cost more.

Vanta pricing by company size

Vendr publishes size bands for Vanta purchases over the past 12 months. They are Vendr's estimates from buyer data, not Vanta figures, and the same Vendr page prints a second, narrower set of bands elsewhere, so treat these as a sanity check rather than a target.

Company sizeTypical scopeVendr estimate per year
1 to 50 employeesOne framework$12,000 to $28,000
51 to 200 employeesOne or two frameworks$25,000 to $55,000
201 to 500 employeesTwo to four frameworks$50,000 to $110,000
500 employees and upFour or more frameworks$100,000 to $250,000 or more

The jump from the 1 to 50 band to the 51 to 200 band roughly doubles the range, and it usually arrives at renewal, not at signing. If you expect to hire past 50 people during the contract, put the hiring plan into the first conversation so the quote prices the headcount you will have at renewal.

Vanta SOC 2 cost, software plus audit

Vanta does not include the audit. Its startup FAQ says Vanta connects you with AICPA peer-reviewed auditors from its partner network and that the audit is a separate engagement, so a first SOC 2 has two invoices: the Vanta subscription and the CPA firm's fee. On Essentials at list, the software line is $14,000 before the auditor is paid at all.

The audit fee depends on Type 1 or Type 2, the number of trust services criteria and your system's complexity, and it is the same whichever platform you choose. Our SOC 2 audit cost breakdown covers what CPA firms charge. For startups, Vanta says startup-specific pricing exists on request and offers a short production trial, but it publishes no discount percentage, so ask for the startup price in writing next to the standard quote.

Vanta vs Scrutineer pricing

Compare the two on the same scope. Scrutineer publishes every price on its pricing page and sells software only, so you hire and pay your auditor directly, exactly as you would with Vanta.

IntegrationsA large native catalogA smaller set of read-only connections to cloud, identity and ticketing tools

Read the table honestly. Vanta wins on integration breadth, on a polished Trust Center, on its auditor partner network and on name recognition with the auditors and buyers who will read your report. Scrutineer wins on price transparency, on questionnaire volume, which is never metered, and on cost once you carry more than one framework or manage vendor risk. If you are still choosing a platform rather than negotiating, our Vanta alternatives comparison covers the features side by side, and the security questionnaire automation page shows how unmetered answering works.

Is Vanta worth the price?

Vanta is worth it for a team that wants the widest integration catalog, a Trust Center its sales team can send on day one, and an auditor network that already knows the product. Those are real reasons to pay more, and for a small company buying one framework through a negotiated Essentials contract, the price is often reasonable.

It is a weaker fit when your costs are driven by things Vanta meters: questionnaire volume above the plan cap, vendors above 50, or headcount crossing into the next band mid-term. Each of those shows up as a new line or a higher tier at renewal. For the wider market, see compliance automation software pricing across twelve platforms, or the Drata pricing breakdown if Drata is your second quote.

How do you negotiate Vanta pricing?

Bring a second written quote, buy the plan that matches your real questionnaire and vendor volume, and settle the renewal terms before you sign. Vendr's 30 percent average saving shows most of the first quote is negotiable, and the AWS list prices give you a published ceiling to point at for companies of up to 20 people.

  • Which plan and which employee band is this quote built on, and what happens when we cross the band mid-term?
  • How many questionnaires a year does the plan include, and what is the price of the next tier of capacity?
  • How many vendors does the TPRM line cover, and what does vendor 51 cost?
  • Which frameworks are included, and what does each additional framework cost on this contract?
  • Is a multi-year term or an AWS Marketplace private offer available, and does an AWS purchase count toward our cloud spend commitment?
  • What is the renewal price, and is the annual increase capped in writing?

Annual SaaS contracts like this one auto-renew at whatever the vendor quotes, so put the notice date in your calendar and set a spend alert ahead of the renewal in whatever tool your finance team uses, so the new price is negotiated before it is invoiced.
